Peter Vervest, professor of information management and networks (emeritus)
On completing studies in law and management science, Peter joined Philips Telecommunications in the early days of connecting computers to telecommunication networks (1979). He specialised in open information systems (“Open Systems Interconnection”), graduated summa cum laude at Technical University Delft (1986) and was elected professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam (1992). He combines academic and business life, was divisional director of Philips Electronics, UK (1987), co-founded a high-tech software and project firm (London, 1991), and became partner of D-Age, a group of high-tech counsellors and investment managers (2000). D-Age was the first investor in Yoursafe.
David is Mr. Identity. He is an Honorary President of EEMA, the European e-ID Association, a Senior Research Fellow at King’s Business School in London and a Digital Fellow at the University of Exeter Business School’s DIGIT Lab. Ranked one of 2022’s global top 30 fintech influencers, he is one of the top three most influential people in London’s FinTech community (City A.M.) and rated Europe’s most influential commentator on emerging payments (Total Payments).
The London Review of Books called his book “Identity is the New Money” fresh, original, wide-ranging and the best book on general issues around new forms of money. David graduated from the University of Southampton with a B.Sc (Hons.) in Physics.
